Ganga entered the world of downtempo electronic music with the album "I dream about trees" (Music for Dreams) in 2004.
Since then Ganga has released 8 albums, many EPs and 12”, and his numerous chilled downtempo tracks are now featured on hundreds of different chill out compilation albums, amongst them several appearances on the infamous Café Del Mar compilation and the Buddha Bar compilation.
People in Brazil will know Gangas track “Skyscraper”, since it was used extensively in the Brasillian telenovella, “A Vida da Gente” - seen by 50 mio. people every day for 4 months. Many more of Gangas tracks are used in TV-series and soundtracks all over the world. F. ex. the danish blockbuster movie "Klovn Forever" and the MTV show "The Hills", which both features the classic Ganga track "Chair”.
As a DJ, Ganga is especially known for his genre-defying downtempo DJ sets which has brought him as far as Tokyo Skytree and Shag Nightclub in Japan, “Buddha Bar” and Siddharta Lounge (resident DJ) in Dubai, and many hotspots in Ibiza like Café Del Mar, and Sands. The sound of Gangas productions is best characterized as chilled electronic downtempo music with lots of guitars, electronic dubs, rolling bassgrooves, beautiful vocals and meticulous electronic production with just a hint of dubby electronic trancevibes. And always with brilliant musical and vocal performances from all corners of the world, sometimes giving the ethnic touch.
The list of artists and composers who has influenced Gangas music is comprehensive and lists both electronic acts as Massive Attack, Underworld, Thievery Corporation, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Brian Eno, The Orb and classical and contempory atists artists such as J.S.Bach. Maurice Durufle, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Autechre, Pink Floyd, Swans and many many more.
The list of Gangas collaborators are very long and includes Ingrid Chavez (Prince), Alexia Vasilliou (Stevie Wonder), David McAlmont (McAlmont & Butler), Hanne Boel, Vanessa Daou, Dawn Joseph (The Brand New Heavies), Helle Chirholm, Steen Kyed, Scheherazade Stone and many others.
Gangas first releases was heavily influenced by the electronic scene of the early 90s, but he also developed a passion for ethnic music, which lead him to study instruments such as the sitar and the tingklik – in India and Bali.
When Ganga performs as a DJ, it is this melting pot of sounds and inspirations he brings to the show. Gangas bright, luscious, but rhythmically adventurous sound, continues to create that sought after atmosphere whose DNA is truly global.
